MYRIAD – ARTIST’S BOOK

  • Honorable Mention IPA 2022

THE PROJECT

I started Myriad in 2020 to explore our bond with nature. My goal was to create an oniric herbarium that highlights the presence of plants in our urban environment and the importance of maintaining balance with the natural world. It mixes different photographic techniques, such as infrared photography and cyanotypes.

Myriad was exhibited at the Artivistas Gallery in Paris in November 2024. Some of the photographs have received awards in past years at the Analog Sparks Awards and the International Photography Awards (IPA).

THE DUMMY BOOK

Participating in workshops dedicated to creating photo books enabled me to finalize the graphic design and layout of my own. The first dummy books were made entirely by hand, requiring nearly 30 hours of meticulous embroidery work.

My dummy book was a finalist at the 2025:

In September 2025, it was exhibited at the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library in Braga, Portugal, as part of the Encontros da Imagem International Photography and Visual Arts Festival.

THE ARTIST’S BOOK

In all my artistic projects, I prioritize quality over quantity and place great importance on craftsmanship. Learning the art of bookbinding has broadened my creative horizons and allowed me to embark on a new adventure: the creation of my own photo books by hand.

All copies of the artist’s book edition are meticulously embroidered and bound by hand by me, ensuring a high-quality copy. The production time for each book is approximately 20 days.

This special edition includes the following features:

  • Nine photos from the book are embroidered directly onto the pages, creating a unique and beautiful visual effect.
  • A signed and numbered photograph printed on fine art paper.
  • An original, numbered, and signed cyanotype created especially for this particular edition.
  • A sturdy cardboard box that is adorned with hand-embroidered designs and lined with Japanese Asarakusui paper.
  • A booklet containing the book’s introductory text and colophon, translated into English.
  • A different cover photo featuring one of the embroidered images from the book.
